Why is this important
The new section will enhance the reliability of gas supply to the Fergana Valley. The temporary outage impacted large enterprises and gas stations, leading to increased demand for petrol.
What happened
- The gas pipeline was cut off on September 4 for 36 hours to install the new branch;
- Work has been completed, gas supply is being restored;
- From September 6, gas supply resumed at gas stations in Andijan region from 20:00, and from 21:00 — in Fergana and Namangan;
- Uzbekneftegaz during the interruptions increased gasoline sales by 7 times — to 2 thousand tons per day.
Context
The Fergana Valley is a densely populated region where energy supply is critical for the population and businesses. The commissioning of a new section of the highway became part of the country’s energy grid modernization program.
