Why is this important
Eco-stickers should encourage the renewal of the fleet and decrease harmful emissions. The postponement of deadlines delays the launch of the “Environmental Transport” programme and the achievement of environmental goals.
What happened
- Full launch in Tashkent has been postponed to 2027;
- implementation in Nukus, regional centers and eco-zones — 2028-2030;
- throughout the country — until 2035 (previously planned for 2031);
- assessment will be carried out according to the manufacturer’s data on the “Euro” class or through the MIA diagnostics;
- cars will get a green, yellow, or red sticker depending on the emissions level.
Context
The system has been prepared since the spring of 2024. Earlier, the issuance of eco-stickers was promised to begin in 2025. The initiative aligns with the policy of reducing air pollution in cities where the share of transport in emissions exceeds 70%.
The issuance of eco-stickers for cars in Tashkent has been postponed to 2026. Full launch in the capital — in 2027, throughout the country – by 2035.
Stickers will be of three colors: green, yellow, and red — depending on the emissions level.
