- The construction of a large shopping and entertainment complex has been announced in Gulistan.
- The President noted that there are 287 thousand hectares of irrigated land in the region.
- The task was set to introduce drip irrigation in 8 districts on 2 thousand hectares of rice fields annually.
- The President cited an example of a farmer from Boyovut district who reduced water consumption by 10 times thanks to modern irrigation technologies.
Numbers and facts
- In 2025, 16 thousand hectares of desert areas have been put into operation, of which 8 thousand hectares are occupied by cotton, and the yield is 60 centners per hectare.
- A $50 million Chinese investment project for drip irrigation has been launched on 12,000 hectares of abandoned land.
- The expected result is at least 60,000 tons of cotton in 2026, with less fertile lands planned to be allocated for fodder crops.
- Instructions were given to establish a Scientific and Innovation Center for Seed Production in the region in cooperation with China’s Northwest Agrarian University and the Yanlin High-Tech Zone.
Cooperation with Hungary
- Bonafarm has begun creating a poultry cluster that will provide the region with poultry meat and eggs.
- In the Khavast district, it is planned to create a technopark with an area of 50 hectares — here Hungarian enterprises worth up to $300 million will be located.
- The khokimiyat was instructed to organize a trip to Hungary to form a package of projects.
- Hungary also proposes to launch a “smart villages” program in two mahallas: access to information on budget spending, support for needy families, vacancies, and business opportunities in a “single window” format.

- Syrdarya region is one of the key agricultural regions of the country, specializing in cotton, grain, and rice cultivation.
- The region is highly dependent on water resources, therefore, the issues of land reclamation, drip irrigation, and canal modernization are considered strategic.
- Conditions are being created for two harvests per year and water conservation.
- International cooperation is strengthening, including with China and Hungary.
