Prices for such goods will decrease every 10 days. This is part of the new Save Food government program to combat waste and reduce food waste.
Also, until the end of 2025, it is planned:
- develop the procedure for separate storage of agricultural products,
- organize monitoring of the movement of products at all stages: from collection to storage,
- revise the sanitary norms in the production and sale of products (term — February 2026),
- to teach the population, especially young people, the principles of rational consumption.
Context
According to estimates, one-third of all food products in the world are wasted or thrown away. Uzbekistan is adapting international practice — such shelves with discounted goods are common, for example, in EU countries and South Korea. The goal of the initiative is not only to reduce waste but also to make food more affordable.
