Why is this important

What happened
- Creation of a textile industrial zone ($180 million);
- Construction of an artificial lake in Khanabad ($20 million);
- “New Andijan” project ($1 billion) — large-scale urban planning with an educational and IT cluster;
- Negotiations were held in Washington with the participation of Andijan Region Governor Shuhrat Abdurahmanov and Oppenheimer Managing Director John Tonelli.
Context
Oppenheimer has already discussed investments in Uzbekistan: in 2023, the company agreed to finance textile clusters and infrastructure projects. President Shavkat Mirziyoyev proposed naming “New Andijan” after Babur.
