South Korean Gyeongsangbuk-do Province will issue E-7 visas to qualified Uzbek citizens

Uzbekistan and Gyeongsangbukdo province agreed to launch a pilot program for issuing E-7 visas for skilled workers. The agreement was reached during a meeting between the head of the Migration Agency, Behzod Musayev, and Governor Lee Chol-woo.

Why is this important

The program will open the possibility of official employment for Uzbekistanis with professional skills and specialized education in high-tech fields. E-7 visas will allow working in South Korea on a legal basis and in more favorable conditions.

Who can participate

The program is aimed at specialists in the field of:

  • artificial intelligence
  • robotics
  • semiconductors
  • biotechnology
  • energy
  • food and textile industry
  • future mobile technologies

Participation terms:

  • Bachelor’s/Master’s diploma + 1 year of work experience
  • diploma + TOPIK 2 or KIIP certificate
  • 3 years of experience + TOPIK 3 certificate
  • graduates of the last courses + TOPIK 2 or KIIP

Context

Earlier, the parties also launched an E-8 visa package for seasonal workers. The E-7 program is characterized by higher candidate qualifications and is designed for long-term employment.

What’s next

Gyeongsangbukdo organizes the selection and processing of documents. Training specialists in Uzbekistan with subsequent employment is also being considered. In parallel, cooperation with KIA Auto in training automotive specialists is being discussed.
