Why is this important
Jordan will become the 36th country with a visa-free regime for Uzbek citizens. This broadens tourism and business prospects and enhances bilateral relations.
What happened
- The Agreement was signed on 26 August in Samarkand during King Abdullah II of Jordan’s visit.
- The visa-free regime will come into effect on 25 September.
- Uzbek citizens can stay in Jordan for up to 30 days without a visa.
- Agreements on collaboration in tourism and aviation were signed;
- A direct Tashkent — Amman flight is scheduled to be launched;
- Previously, Uzbek citizens obtained visas for Jordan on arrival.

Foreign Ministry spokesperson Ahror Burkhanov confirmed to Spot that the agreement will come into force 30 days after signing.
Context
Uzbekistan is actively broadening the list of visa-free countries. In recent years, similar agreements have been signed with several states across Asia, the Middle East, and the Commonwealth of Independent States.
