Teachers in Uzbekistan will be given bonuses for Teacher’s Day

On Teacher's Day, celebrated on 1 October, school teachers in Uzbekistan will receive bonuses of up to 953 thousand soums from the director's fund.

Why is this important

This is the first payment under the new rules: the maximum bonus amount has been increased from 50% to 75% of the minimum wage. Payments support teachers’ motivation and enhance the prestige of the profession. The bonus amount varies, as the state has delegated the decision to the school level.

What happened

  • According to the presidential decree, teachers can now receive a bonus of up to 75% of the minimum wage — previously, it was 50%.
  • The MW from 1 August 2025 is 1.27 million soums, meaning the maximum premium is 953 thousand soums.
  • Payments come from the director’s fund and depend on the school’s finances.
  • The amount of bonuses will be different: 75%, 60% or 50% of the minimum wage.
  • A single standard has not been established for the entire country.

What they say

This is the maximum possible amount. Real payments depend on the resources of each school, — says Khushnudbek Khudoyberdiyev, a popular blogger and human rights activist who regularly comments and explains educational norms.

Context

Teacher and Mentor Day is observed on 1 October. In 2025, Uzbekistan increased the MPC and continues to support education workers. The decision on bonuses is part of a broader policy of decentralising finances in schools.
