What happened
The Central Bank changed the procedure for conducting foreign exchange transactions related to capital movement. Starting January 1, 2026, Uzbekistan’s residents — both individuals and legal entities — will be able to invest in companies registered in the US without obtaining a separate government permit. The amendments are implementing the presidential decree of November 11 on the establishment of the American-Uzbek Business and Investment Council.
Why is this important
The abolition of permits and limits reduces administrative barriers, expands opportunities for international business and asset diversification. This strengthens Uzbekistan’s integration into global investment chains and stimulates bilateral economic relations with the US. The relaxation also enhances Uzbekistan’s attractiveness as a jurisdiction supporting openness and business capitalization.
