What happened
The Cabinet of Ministers approved a resolution that abolishes approximately 1,600 restrictions and mandatory requirements for entrepreneurs. The document is published on Lex.uz.
Conformity certification for 1568 commodity items has been canceled, and regulations for individual entrepreneurs and the tourism sector have been simplified. Individual entrepreneurs will now be able to import goods without a limit (previously — up to $5000), rent housing to tourists for a period of more than 30 days, work in the furniture industry, and grow seedlings. The Ministry of Justice noted that the cancellation of such a scale is being carried out for the first time.

Context
At the end of November, President Shavkat Mirziyoyev signed a decree on reducing the regulatory burden, which abolished about 800 outdated norms and acts. The Head of State also instructed to prepare a project to increase the rates of duty-free import of goods for personal needs. The Cabinet’s new resolution is the next stage of reforms aimed at large-scale revision of restrictions and creation of a more favorable business environment.
