Why is this important
The reform makes the process of obtaining “prestigious” license plates transparent, simplifies access for car owners, and eliminates corruption risks associated with auctions.
What happened
- Starting October 1, 2025, auctions for the sale of beautiful numbers through UzEX will be discontinued.
- 1-3 category license plates will be issued at an increased rate through Uzavtomotobelgi.
- the numbers of the 4th-6th categories will remain in the same order without a bonus.
- From January 1, 2026, auctions and the sale of rooms at increased tariffs will be completely abolished.
- a unified database of free combinations of the Ministry of Internal Affairs – access through infokiosks, the mobile application of the SBU, the website of the Ministry of Internal Affairs and the portal of state services – is being launched.
- within the territorial code, “prestigious” numbers will be available only when 90% of combinations are occupied.
Context
Auctions for the sale of “beautiful” numbers through UzEx have been operating since 2017. The system was often criticized for its opacity and limited access. The new digital database should simplify the choice of combination and eliminate intermediaries.
