This is a step towards Uzbekistan&#8217;s integration into international air traffic management standards. <\/p>\n<p><strong>What happened<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Starting October 2nd, all airports in the country switched from ICAO codes starting with <strong>UT<\/strong> to <strong>UZ<\/strong> codes.<\/li>\n<li>Example: Tashkent Airport changed its code from <strong>UTTT<\/strong> to <strong>UZTT<\/strong>, Samarkand \u2014 from <strong>UTSS<\/strong> to <strong>UZSS<\/strong>, Bukhara \u2014 from <strong>UTSB<\/strong> to <strong>UZSB<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Unified levels of transition have been established throughout the republic:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>absolute height \u2014 <strong>13,000 feet<\/strong> (about 4 km);<\/li>\n<li>transition echelon \u2014 <strong>FL150<\/strong> (15,000 feet).<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The Uzaeronavigation Center stated that the changes will increase the safety, efficiency, and environmental friendliness of flights.<\/p>\n<p><strong>What they say<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Uzaeronavigation emphasized that the new code makes Uzbekistan&#8217;s airspace &#8220;more recognizable on the world aviation map.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Context<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Until now, Uzbekistan&#8217;s airspace has been using the <strong>UT<\/strong> code inherited from the Soviet ICAO code system. The change of codes and the introduction of unified transition levels is part of modernizing the national air navigation system.
