{"id":10586,"date":"2025-10-07T18:43:48","date_gmt":"2025-10-07T13:43:48","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/frank.uz\/bez-kategorii\/uzbekistan-is-preparing-to-issue-a-new-esg-bond\/"},"modified":"2025-10-07T18:43:48","modified_gmt":"2025-10-07T13:43:48","slug":"uzbekistan-is-preparing-to-issue-a-new-esg-bond","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/frank.uz\/en\/news-en\/uzbekistan-is-preparing-to-issue-a-new-esg-bond\/","title":{"rendered":"Uzbekistan is preparing to issue a new ESG bond"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>Why is this important<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>This is a step towards diversifying the structure of public debt, attracting green and international investors, and increasing transparency through regular ESG reports.<\/p>\n<p><strong>What happened<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Advisor to the Minister of Economy and Finance Jasur Karshibayev reported on the preparation of regular ESG reports and the expansion of sustainable financing volumes.<\/li>\n<li>Legislation is being developed that will facilitate the attraction of funds, including through Islamic financial instruments.<\/li>\n<li>In 2024, Uzbekistan placed stable bonds worth 600 million euros and another 500 million euros; previously, it issued \u201cgreen\u201d bonds in soums.<\/li>\n<li>The country&#8217;s dollar bonds have brought almost 14% returns since the beginning of the year \u2014 higher than the average for developing markets.<\/li>\n<li>Internal debt distribution: ~65% \u2014 in dollars, more than 10% \u2014 in sums; the rest \u2014 in euros, yen, and yuan.<\/li>\n<li>The economy is growing: in the first half of 2025, GDP grew by 7.2%.<\/li>\n<li>Considering the current plans, the state is preparing to more actively involve non-residents in the purchase of local bonds.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Context<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>According to the OECD, the issuance of thematic bonds (green, ESG) is one of the key financing strategies for Uzbekistan&#8217;s green transition. Uzbekistan already has experience in issuing SDG\/stable bonds and publishes framework documents on their management and reporting.
