Growth in coal production compensates for energy shortages but increases the carbon footprint of the economy. A decrease in gasoline production can lead to an increase in imports or a shortage in the domestic market.  <\/p>\n<p><strong>What happened<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Natural gas production amounted to 32.2 billion cubic meters (\u22128.4% year-on-year);<\/li>\n<li>Gasoline production \u2014 884.5 thousand tons (-11.1%);<\/li>\n<li>Oil production \u2014 490.1 thousand tons (\u22129.6%);<\/li>\n<li>Coal production increased by 5.1% to 5.6 million tons.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Comparison with last year<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>In January-September 2024, 35.1 billion cubic meters of gas were produced, 995 thousand tons of gasoline and 542 thousand tons of oil were produced. Coal in the same period amounted to 5.33 million tons. <\/p>\n<p><strong>Context<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The 5% increase in coal production is linked to efforts to compensate for gas shortages for electricity generation.
