Tourists will be able to pay by phone without exchanging currency or withdrawing cash. Uzbeks will have access to contactless payments (NFC) \u2014 convenience, security. Competition with Click, Payme, Uzum is an incentive to improve services.   <\/p>\n<h3>What happened<\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>The president&#8217;s press service announced plans to launch Apple Pay, Google Pay after the meeting on November 6;<\/li>\n<li>As early as October 2024, the government instructed to negotiate with Alipay, Apple Pay, Google Pay, PayPal, and Unipay.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3>Why Apple Pay and Google Pay<\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>For tourists: <\/strong>2+ million tourists per year (Russia, Kazakhstan, China, Europe) will be able to pay by phone without currency exchange, cash withdrawal, and commissions.<\/li>\n<li><strong>For Uzbeks: <\/strong>access to contactless payments (NFC) &#8211; convenience (no card needed), security (no risk of card loss).<\/li>\n<li><strong>For business: <\/strong>attracting tourists, simplifying payments, increasing turnover.<\/li>\n<li><strong>For the economy: <\/strong>growth of non-cash payments, reduction of shadow turnover, increasing transparency.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3>Technical requirements<\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>NFC terminals:<\/strong> stores, restaurants, and taxis must install NFC terminals for contactless payments.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Integration with banks:<\/strong> Uzbek banks must integrate their cards into Apple Pay, Google Pay.<\/li>\n<li><strong>CB regulation:<\/strong> The CB must approve the launch, establish rules, and license operators.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3>Other systems<\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Alipay:<\/strong> Chinese payment system \u2014 for Chinese tourists (the largest flow).<\/li>\n<li><strong>PayPal: <\/strong>an international online payment system for e-commerce.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3>Context<\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>October 2024: <\/strong>The government approved measures to effectively utilize tourism potential, including negotiations with international payment systems.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Tourism:<\/strong> 2+ million tourists per year, revenue $1+ billion.
