At the same time, the focus is on water conservation, protection against mudflow threats, bringing new land into use, and creating businesses around water infrastructure facilities. In addition, the government is focusing on expanding private sector participation and digitalizing water resource management processes.  <\/p>\n<h3>What happened<\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>Shavkat Mirziyoyev <a href=\"https:\/\/president.uz\/ru\/lists\/view\/9250\">held<\/a> a meeting on improving the efficiency of the use of water fund lands and mudflow waters.<\/li>\n<li>During the discussion, issues related to the modernization of water infrastructure, the efficient use of coastal territories, involving businesses in cleaning water facilities, and the rational use of mudflow and flood waters were considered.<\/li>\n<li>The President instructed officials to expand private sector participation, introduce a digital system for managing water fund lands, and make more active use of water infrastructure for the development of tourism, agriculture, and services.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3>Numbers and facts<\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>Work on concreting riverbeds and canals with a total length of 150,000 kilometers is continuing across the country.<\/li>\n<li>According to official estimates, this will save 1.3 billion cubic meters of water annually, which is comparable to the annual water consumption of the Navoi region.<\/li>\n<li>To date, 2,000 kilometers of main canals have been concreted, 721 kilometers of canals have been built, and 525 kilometers of flumes and closed networks have been constructed. A total of 3 trillion soums has been allocated for these purposes. <\/li>\n<li>As a result, water supply has improved for 858,000 hectares of land, while another 51,000 hectares have been brought into agricultural circulation.<\/li>\n<li>It was noted during the meeting that nearly 100,000 hectares of water fund land are suitable for tourism, business, and entertainment facilities.<\/li>\n<li>According to government estimates, the use of these territories could provide employment for 100,000 people and generate an additional 220 billion soums in annual revenue.<\/li>\n<li>It is also planned to permit sand and gravel extraction in areas where their accumulation causes erosion and flooding.<\/li>\n<li>Entrepreneurs are expected to be involved in cleaning reservoirs, canals, and hydraulic structures without tenders. Vacated land plots in reservoirs and mudflow storage facilities will be leased through auctions. <\/li>\n<li>The use of mudflow and flood waters was discussed separately. According to information presented at the meeting, nearly 690 million cubic meters of water from 60 large streams flow away each year without effective use. <\/li>\n<li>It was noted that the rational use of these resources would make it possible to return 13,000 hectares of land to circulation and create conditions for the development of fish farming.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3>Context<\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>For businesses, the new measures open additional opportunities in water fund territories, ranging from tourism and services to the extraction of construction materials and agricultural activities.<\/li>\n<li>Simplifying entrepreneurs\u2019 access to cleaning and operating individual facilities demonstrates the government\u2019s intention to involve the private sector more actively in infrastructure management.<\/li>\n<li>For the regions, projects around water facilities could become a source of new jobs and additional economic activity.
