This serves as a signal for car dealers, energy companies, and regulators: the market is swiftly shifting towards \u201cclean\u201d transport. <strong data-start=\"144\" data-end=\"162\"><br \/>\n<\/strong><\/p>\n<p data-start=\"596\" data-end=\"616\"><strong data-start=\"596\" data-end=\"614\">What happened<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul data-start=\"617\" data-end=\"902\">\n<li data-start=\"617\" data-end=\"686\">\n<p data-start=\"619\" data-end=\"686\">the total import of passenger cars decreased to 42,230 (\u221212% by 2024).<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li data-start=\"687\" data-end=\"747\">\n<p data-start=\"689\" data-end=\"747\">electric vehicles: 28,948 vehicles (+124%), $358.9 million (+115%).<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li data-start=\"687\" data-end=\"747\">\n<p data-start=\"689\" data-end=\"747\">gasoline cars: 11,166 cars (\u221255%), $233.6 million (\u221257%).<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li data-start=\"809\" data-end=\"859\">\n<p data-start=\"811\" data-end=\"859\">hybrids: 2,025 vehicles (\u221280%), $46.1 million (\u221276%).<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li data-start=\"860\" data-end=\"902\">\n<p data-start=\"862\" data-end=\"902\">diesel: 91 cars (+10x), $2.1 million.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p data-start=\"1165\" data-end=\"1531\"><strong data-start=\"1165\" data-end=\"1178\">Context<\/strong><\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1165\" data-end=\"1531\">In 2024, 12.9 thousand electric cars were imported into the country \u2014 2 times less than in the eight months of 2025. The authorities plan to increase the share of \u201cgreen\u201d transport by 2030 and are already encouraging the transition to excise taxes and differentiated taxation.
