The new deposit can strengthen Uzbekistan&#8217;s energy independence and support for export opportunities. <\/p>\n<p>The discovery of rich mineral reserves in the region, including metals, makes Ustyurt a strategic region for the long term.<\/p>\n<p><strong>What happened<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>A <strong>6.5 kilometer<\/strong> deep well was drilled for the first time in the history of Uzbekistan&#8217;s oil and gas industry.<\/li>\n<li>Before this, the research was conducted at depths of <strong>2.5-3 kilometers<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li>The discovered gas deposits on the Ustyurt Plateau are described as large, <strong>although the exact volume of reserves has not yet been disclosed<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li>Besides gas, the region is rich in technological minerals: it is stated that <strong>10-15%<\/strong> of the world&#8217;s reserves of tungsten, molybdenum, zinc, and titanium could be located in Central Asia, including this region.<\/li>\n<li>According to the National Statistics Committee, gas production in the first seven months of this year amounted to <strong>25.3 billion <\/strong>cubic meters, a <strong>3.4%<\/strong> decrease compared to the same period last year.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>What they say<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>President Mirziyoyev emphasized that to transform natural resources into high-value-added products, science, knowledge, and innovation are necessary.<\/p>\n<p>This event is an important step towards expanding geological exploration and developing ultra-deep layers.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Context<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The Ustyurt region has long been considered a promising oil and gas area. Agreements with SOCAR and other partners on the product sharing agreement confirm the growing interest in its development. <\/p>\n<p>The volume of gas production in Uzbekistan has slightly decreased in recent months, which increases the relevance of new sources.
