The Tashkent city administration denied plans to renovate “Moscow Heights”

The Mirzo-Ulugbek district administration stated that the “Moscow Heights” on Darkhan will not be demolished. It is planned to renovate the facades and improve the adjacent territory.

Why is it important

Residents feared that under the guise of “renovation”, the authorities would make serious changes to the building structures or forcibly demolish them. Refutation maintains confidence in the preservation of historical appearance and property rights.

What happened

  • Mirzo Ulugbek district governor Bahodir Gaibnazarov personally met with residents to clarify the situation and calm concerns.
  • The authorities announced that cosmetic work will be carried out: renovation of the facades, landscaping of the territory, installation of new fountains, improvement of parking lots and courtyards. At the same time, the architectural appearance will be preserved.
  • Earlier, residents stated that construction inspection representatives demanded the demolition of glass balconies and air conditioners without presenting documents or a project.
  • The “Moscow Highs” complex was built in 1983 and consists of four 18-story buildings.

Context

The idea of renovating the heights was discussed as early as 2023: authorities proposed options for “updating the appearance” of many houses, including “Moscow ones”, but they were not legalized or approved.

Previous statements emphasized that any projects must be coordinated with residents, architects, and taking into account the preservation of the building’s appearance.
