The increase in the number of operating enterprises demonstrates the continued expansion of business activity across Uzbekistan’s regions. Growth in the number of companies is usually associated with the development of trade, services, construction, and small business, as well as rising domestic demand. At the same time, the regional distribution of enterprises shows where the country’s main economic activity is concentrated and which areas still significantly lag behind in terms of business scale.
What happened
- As of May 1, 2026, there were 580.9 thousand enterprises and organizations operating in Uzbekistan.
- Compared to the same period last year, this figure increased by 40.2 thousand, or 7.4 percent.
- The largest number of operating enterprises and organizations was recorded in Tashkent city, Tashkent region, and Samarkand region.
- The lowest figures were recorded in Syrdarya, Navoi, and Jizzakh regions.
Numbers and facts
- A total of 110,815 enterprises and organizations were operating in Tashkent city. Tashkent region ranked second with 54,874 enterprises, while Samarkand region ranked third with 53,724 enterprises.
- They were followed by Fergana region with 49,410 enterprises, Kashkadarya region with 44,492, Andijan region with 35,605, Bukhara region with 35,223, and Namangan region with 34,035 enterprises.
- Khorezm region had 32,895 enterprises and organizations, Surkhandarya region had 32,320, the Republic of Karakalpakstan had 29,682, and Jizzakh region had 26,916 enterprises and organizations.
- The smallest number of enterprises and organizations was recorded in Navoi region — 24,351, and Syrdarya region — 16,509.
