Automobile production will be launched in the Bukhara region

The project involving the Chinese company provides for an increase in production from 20,000 cars and the creation of up to 3,000 jobs.

Why is this important

The project to launch automotive production in the Bukhara region is creating a new industrial growth point with an emphasis on localization and export. The expansion of output and the phased increase in capacity will provide a foundation for engaging related industries and reducing import dependence. The region gains an opportunity to establish itself as a production and logistics hub with access to Central Asian markets.

What happened

  • A project for the phased establishment of automobile production in the Bukhara region has been presented with the participation of the Chinese company Zhejiang Leapmotor Tech Co.
  • The initiative was announced on April 1 at a meeting chaired by President Shavkat Mirziyoyev dedicated to reforms and the region’s economic potential.
  • The project includes launching the production of several car models, developing component localization and training personnel in cooperation with universities, as well as discussing ways to accelerate its implementation with the company’s management.

Numbers and facts

The production plan provides for:

  • production of 20,000 vehicles in 2026 with revenue of $50 million;
  • 40,000 vehicles in 2027 with revenue of $100 million;
  • 60,000 vehicles in 2028 with revenue of $150 million;
  • 100,000 vehicles in 2029 with revenue of $200 million;
  • 150,000 vehicles in 2030 with revenue of $300 million;
  • 200,000 vehicles in 2031 with revenue of $350 million.

The project includes the production of B10, B10L, A10, C01, and C16 models.

  • Localization involves organizing the production of bumpers, seats, windows, door panels, tires, rearview mirrors, wiring harnesses, batteries, instrument panels, and lighting equipment.
  • Job creation is planned at 200 positions in 2026, 1,000 in 2028, and 3,000 in 2031.
  • The project is being implemented with the participation of educational institutions, including Bukhara State Technical University, INHA University in Tashkent, the University of Information Technologies, and Turin Polytechnic University.

Context

  • For businesses, this means the emergence of a new production cluster and increased demand for local suppliers of components and services.
  • Residents of the region will gain additional jobs and access to engineering education linked to real production.
  • For the state, the project strengthens the industrial base, expands export potential, and creates a new growth point in the automotive industry focused on regional markets.
